I have always been an avid animal lover, and I mean of all shapes and sizes.  Growing up I had family pets like dogs, cats, snakes, hamsters, and fish (to name a few).  One of my favorite hobbies as a kid was going to the exotic pet store and I dreamed of the day when I would get to work with animals up close and personal.  One day I was picking up my parents’ miniature schnauzers from the groomers and realized this was a perfect way for me to bring those dreams to fruition.  I had never considered being a groomer until I was standing in a salon, watching all the dogs being transformed right in front of me.

I started out as a bather at PetSmart in 2012, doing the basics while learning from the groomers around me.  I quickly gained the confidence to become a groomer myself and after a few years of grooming, I took the leap to start managing salons.  I loved building a relationship with my clients, caring for their pets as if they were my own, as well as teaching fellow groomers to do the same.

 

After managing corporate salons for a couple of years, I found myself feeling burned out because of the push for quantity over quality.  In 2017 I ended up having back surgery and had to start thinking about the toll fast paced, corporate grooming, was taking on my body.  Ultimately, this led me to take a break from grooming full time and pursue a career in Property Management/Real Estate.

​While working on this new career path I still groomed on the side and found myself missing it more and more.  I was becoming so unhappy with my decision to leave grooming full time, that I started reaching out to colleagues to find my way back.  That is when I was put in touch with Walt, who owns and operates Walt's Perfect Pups Mobile Grooming.  It turned out that he was looking for someone to manage his brand new In-Store location in Norman, and it was like fate brought us together.  This was my opportunity to get back into the salon to do what I love without the stress of a corporate environment.

​Only a few months into managing Walt's In-Store Grooming, we were named the Best Pet Grooming in Norman in the Reader’s Choice Awards 2023.  This was all the reassurance I needed to know that I made the right decision.  While working with Walt, I learned about a whole new side of grooming that is quickly taking over the industry.  Mobile grooming is the ultimate way to reduce stress for pets and their owners and gives the opportunity to really build a relationship with each client.

​With over 11 years of experience I am ready for the next step, and that is to be my own boss.  I am thrilled to be starting my own mobile grooming business, Polished Paws, and I look forward to providing premium care to you and your beloved pets!
